Clearwater, FL - Rally's Hamburgers, Inc. introduced the Big Chicken Sandwich for 99 cents and new television advertising featuring Speakerman at work asking for a promotion.
Rally's introduced Speakerman last September to educate consumers that nothing gets made fresh at Rally's until Speakerman gives the order. In 1999, consumers will learn even more about Speakerman as his everyday life experiences are spotlighted during each new Rally's product promotion.
The current specially priced product, an all-white meat Big Chicken Sandwich, includes a unique roasted flavor and tasty, crunchy breading served on a toasted sesame-seed bun, topped with mayonnaise and shredded lettuce. The Big Chicken Combo includes a medium drink and medium fries for $3.29. The Big Chicken Club is also being offered for $1.79 and is a variation of the Big Chicken Sandwich. The Club is garnished with bacon and tomato in addition to the other toppings. Both sandwiches are available through February 15.
The roasted flavor of the Big Chicken is what makes this new sandwich unique, said Bob Purple, senior vice president of marketing for Rally's. Offering this delicious chicken sandwich is a great way to kick off the new year.
New Advertising Featuring Speakerman
The new 30-second television spot supporting this product shows Speakerman asking his boss, Steve, for a promotion to assistant manager. After all, Speakerman has been selected as the Employee of the Month for the past eight months and he's the one responsible for guaranteeing that all Big Chickens (and everything else!) are made fresh every time.
C'mon, Steve, my track record speaks for itself, declares Speakerman. He continues, So why are you grooming Joey for management? He can't even work the grill. He's stupid.
But to Speakerman's dismay, the manager replies, He's my son.
Speakerman is left fumbling for words and exclaims, Did I say stupid? I meant stupid in a good way.
The 30-second radio spot features Speakerman riding in a cab and haggling with the driver about dealing with people in their respective jobs. The driver asks, What do you do? I'm the Rally's Speakerman.
Oh, yeah, sure. Big Chicken Sandwich, right? asks the driver. Speakerman confirms this and describes the great-tasting sandwich. The driver responds, Wow, a Big Chicken Sandwich for only 99 cents? Sounds good.
Speakerman replies, Oh, it smells good too. And since they're only 99 cents, you might want to think about getting one as an air freshener. It smells like a locker room in here. Seeing little humor in Speakerman's jeering, the driver says, Hey pal, keep that up and I'll pull this cab over and kick your 99 cent chicken-loving butt to the curb. This here's my livelihood. Despite his strong words, the driver still asks for a tip.
Without shelling out another dime, Speakerman says, Oh, I got your tip right here. Rally's. Fresh. Because we just made it.
The TV spot will air in Birmingham, Lexington, Little Rock, Louisville, New Orleans, St. Louis, and Tallahassee. The radio spot will air in Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Memphis, New Orleans, and St. Louis. The campaign also includes outdoor billboards.
