051019 Hot Dog Fundraiser For Katrina VictimsOctober 22, 2005Des Plaines , IL - A total of $5,000 was raised at the Rosemont Chamber of Commerce-sponsored hot dog fund-raiser Oct. 5 for Hurricane Katrina victims. A check in that amount was promptly sent to Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, where more than 50 families who are victims of the Aug. 29 hurricane that devastated the Gulf Coast, are temporarily housed. "We had a great turnout, we sold at least 600 hot dogs in four hours," said Chamber Director Amy Regan. She also said the Rosemont Senior Citizens group made a special contribution to the project, and a number of seniors showed up at the Higgins Road office parking lot where the "Katrina/Maryville Hot Dog Stand" was located. In addition to the Chamber itself, sponsoring the event were a dozen Chamber member companies - Alpha-Maryann Bakery, Coldstone Creamery, Heinz, Jonland Type and Design, Lincoln Property Co., Mt. Hot Dog, Pepsi-Cola, Rosemont Catering, Starbucks, Sysco, Rosemont Exposition Services, and White Hen Pantry. In addition to the hot dogs and related food items, hats with the Village of Rosemont's 50th anniversary logo on them were sold for $10 each. E-mail: sflanagan@sprintmail.com |
