041169 Animal Rights Group Investigated in VandalismNovember 25, 2004Los Angeles, CA - Los Angeles police are investigating three recent vandalism cases that could be linked to a radical animal rights group. Vandals spray painted the letters "A-L-F" at two McDonald's restaurants and the home of an executive whose company uses animals in drug testing. The acronym could stand for the Animal Liberation Front, a secretive group that's on the Justice Department's list of domestic terror organizations. The vandals broke windows and painted slogans like "Stop McKillers" at the McDonald's in the Harbor Gateway district and in the Crenshaw area. Also, someone threw a smoke bomb into the garage of the executive's home in the Hollywood Hills. Police spokesman Ed Funes says it's too early to directly link the organization to the incidents. He says that just because they spray A-L-F "doesn't mean they are involved." E-mail: sflanagan@sprintmail.com |
