021005 Bob Evans Announces September Same-Store Sales

Columbus, OH - Bob Evans Farms, Inc. announced that same-store sales in "core" restaurants (431 stores which were open for the full 12 months in both fiscal years 2001 and 2002) for the fiscal 2003 month of September (the four weeks ended Sept. 20) decreased 1.3% from the comparable period a year ago. Menu prices for the month were up approximately 2.6%.

“While our restaurant same-store sales remain negative, with only a slight improvement in September, profitability in our food products business continues to be strong, reflecting low hog costs," said Stewart K. Owens, chairman of the board and chief executive officer. "Overall, we are still comfortable with our previous earnings guidance of approximately $0.55 per share for the second fiscal quarter and approximately $2.00 per share for fiscal 2003."
