020835 Tyson Foods Recalls ChickenAugust 23, 2002Washington (AP) - Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling about 1,740 pounds of frozen chicken distributed to nine states because eggs and whey were not listed as ingredients. People with allergies or sensitivities to eggs or whey can have adverse reactions to the chicken, the Agriculture Department said in announcing the recall. "Outlets that serve this type of food should check to see if they received any of the recalled product. Consumers who are allergic to egg or whey should not eat this product," said William J. Hudnall, acting administrator of the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service. The recalled products are 10-pound cases of frozen chicken bearing the code "1962BLV01-15." The chicken was produced July 15 at Tyson's poultry processing plant in Blountsville, Ala., and distributed to hotels, restaurants and institutions in Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Washington.
