020631 Steak n Shake Opens 400th Restaurant

Fishers, IN - The Steak n Shake Company announced the opening of its 400th restaurant at 11665 Commercial Dr, Fishers, IN (116th Street in front of the Super Target along Interstate 69). The restaurant will open on Monday, June 24, 2002.

This restaurant is a significant benchmark demonstrating the continued growth and success of the company now operating in 19 states. Several activities are planned to recognize this important milestone.

First, the restaurant will host a VIP/Press party on Saturday, June 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. The party will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a press conference. This celebration is open to members of press and special guests of Steak n Shake. Members of the public are invited to the official opening on Monday, June 24.

As part of the festivities, The Steak n Shake Company will donate $50,000 to the new business school building at IUPUI (Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis), a leading urban university campus serving more than 27,000 students. The IU Kelley School of Business offers programs on two Indiana University campuses, Bloomington and Indianapolis. For the past three decades, the IU Kelley School of Business Indianapolis has conferred business degrees at IUPUI. Kelley Indianapolis is home to a world class undergraduate business curriculum, the Evening MBA and Evening MPA (Masters of Professional Accountancy) programs, and provides MBA degrees to students all over the world through the Kelley Direct Online MBA program. Other plans to celebrate the restaurant opening include events with the WFBQ, WRZX, and WNDE radio stations. The company will be a blood drive sponsor offering free milkshake coupons to donors at Central Indiana locations on Friday, June 28, 2002. Daily contests will give listeners the opportunity to win gift certificates and concert tickets for their Steak n Shake knowledge. Finally, Steak n Shake lovers are invited to the Fishers restaurant on Saturday, June 29, 2002 beginning at 12:00 p.m. where local DJ's will be performing live with more contests and giveaways.

The Fishers restaurant was also chosen as the set for the newest Steak n Shake television commercials produced in early June. The new commercials will begin to air in September.

Steak n Shake is a full service, casual dining restaurant serving a core menu of their famous Steakburgers, thin 'n crispy French Fries and old fashioned hand-dipped Milk Shakes.
