020101 Tricon December U.S. Same-Store Sales Rise

Louisville, KY - Fast food and pizza chain operator Tricon Global Restaurants Inc. on Tuesday said sales at restaurants open at least a year same-store sales rose 7% in December.

Same-store sales rose 12% at Taco Bell, 8% at KFC and 3% at Pizza Hut.

For the fourth quarter, same-store sales at company restaurants rose 3%, said Tricon, the world's No. 2 restaurant operator behind McDonald's Corp.

Louisville, Kentucky-based Tricon said fourth-quarter international system sales rose 8% before foreign currency conversion, and 3% after conversion to U.S. dollars. For the year to date, international system sales rose 9% before foreign currency conversion and 2% after conversion.
