010537 Beef Futures Mixed While Pork Settles LowerMay 20, 2001Chicago - Wheat prices dipped lower Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade in a minor correction to the previous session's huge gains. Other grains and soybeans settled mixed. Weekly crop ratings for wheat proved a disappointment to investors, prompting some selling. News that China had sold wheat to South Korea also pressured the market. Soybean futures were little-changed despite pressure from significant planting progress for the U.S. crop. Trading volume was light. Corn prices were flat amid a lack of fresh news. Wheat for July delivery fell 1 cent to $2.77 1/2 a bushel; July corn finished unchanged at $2.01 3/4 a bushel; July oats fell 1/4 cent to $1.10 a bushel; July soybeans rose 3/4 cent to $4.44 a bushel. Beef futures were mixed while pork futures settled lower on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. June live cattle fell .13 cent to 70.57 cents a pound; August feeder cattle rose .07 cent to 87.72 cents a pound; June lean hogs fell .70 cent to 68.10 cents a pound; July pork bellies fell .85 cent to 76.90 cents a pound.
