001101 White Castle Breaks Ground on Processing PlantNovember 1, 2000Columbus, OH - White Castle is breaking ground on a new meat processing facility in Zanesville Ohio in the Enterprise Zone near the Zanesville Municipal Airport. “We are currently at or near capacity in our other two facilities in Indiana. We feel given our current state of business and our projected needs, now is the right time to open a third meat processing plant”, stated Bill Ingram, President and CEO of White Castle. “The location is perfect to help support our east coast restaurant operations and possibly other markets in the future,” continued Ingram. White Castle owns two other meat processing facilities; one in Lebanon IN, and the other in Orleans, IN. 100% pure USDA meat comes to the facilities in frozen blocks, it is ground to White Castles specifications and formed into square frozen meat patties and then shipped to White Castle's 348 restaurants across the mid-west and northeast. Combined capacity for the two current meat plants is close to 40 million pounds. At full operation, the new Zanesville plant will have a 15 million pound capacity. The plant will employ 35 people initially, and at full capacity can employ 50 people. The facility will be approximately 34,000 square feet. According to the schedule, the plant will open late next summer. Persons interested in employment can contact 800-THE-CRAVE for more information.
