000756 Survey Shows Most Have Never Tasted VealJuly 24, 2000Utica, NY - More than half the respondents (57.2%) to the latest Zogby America poll revealed they have never tasted veal, despite the meat's common availability. The nationwide telephone survey of 1,264, shows that while 2.4% eat veal weekly, 57.2% have never tasted it. Another 7% eat veal monthly and 32.1% have it a few times a year. The study, conduced by Zogby International for the Farm Sanctuary, showed that respondents in the Central/Great Lakes were the least likely to eat veal (63.6% never) compared to 49.9% of those in the East, 55.6% in the South and 57.8% in the West. Younger respondents (18-24) were less likely to eat veal (68.5%) than older respondents (55-69) of which half had never eaten veal.
