000755 Hamburger Hamlet Debuts New Dinner Menu

July 19, 2000

Irvine, CA - The Hamlet Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Prandium, Inc., announced the introduction of a new summer dinner menu called “Hamlet at Night” for its Hamburger Hamlet restaurant chain. The new menu was created to augment regular items available on the existing menu, with entrees that are targeted to capture more share of available dinner sales. Featuring a line up of entrees, appetizers and desserts, the new Hamlet at Night menu is available after 5 pm everyday at all Hamburger Hamlet locations.

“The five new entrees we are offering our guests are both tasty and contemporary. This new menu line-up includes Chicken Linguine that is served with White Wine Alfredo Sauce topped with a sliced Blackened Chicken Breast, a New Orleans Cajun Catfish dish, a BBQ Chicken and Rib Platter served with fresh corn on the cob, and Sauteed Chicken with a tangy Apply Chutney,” commented Executive Chef, John P. Birdsall. Rounding out the menu, Hamlet is introducing Hamlet's Strawberry Madness, a delightful twist on the traditional strawberry shortcake and two new appetizers -- BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and a Steakhouse Tomato salad.

“This new dinner menu is in keeping with our long-standing tradition of quality that has kept guests coming back for 50 years,” added Jennifer Maloney, vice president of marketing for Hamburger Hamlet. “We believe our new dinner menu will continue to serve our growing casual dining evening segment.”

Renowned for its gourmet burgers and signature soups including Lobster Bisque and Onion Soup Fondue, Hamburger Hamlet is a full service restaurant that delivers a tasty alternative within the casual dining segment. Other menu selections include a variety of appetizers, soups and chili, sandwiches, salads, chicken, seafood, pasta dishes, and desserts.

In 1950, Marilyn and Harry Lewis opened the first Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, California. The restaurant was a dream come true for both of them. The venture combined his love for Shakespeare (hence the name, Hamlet) and her love of entertaining. The first menu included gourmet hamburgers, signature soups, and decadent desserts, many of which are still on the menu today. Today, Hamburger Hamlet serves over 3 million guests annually in 14 locations.
