000746 Two New Chicken Club Sandwiches at Burger King

July 17, 2000

Miami, FL - Burger King Corporation announced that customers will have a choice of two Chicken Club Sandwiches that have been added permanently to the menu. Each sandwich offers a choice of either flame- broiled or crispy chicken, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and hickory-smoked bacon served on a sesame seed bun. The BK Broiler Club features a tender flame-broiled all-white meat chicken patty, and the original Chicken Club features a crispy all-white meat chicken patty. Both club sandwiches will be available at participating Burger King restaurants nationwide.

“Our customers love the idea of having a choice between these two delicious Chicken Club Sandwiches,” said Derek Correia, vice president, USA product marketing for Burger King Corporation. “The combination of chicken and sizzling bacon offers customers two more great-tasting, flavorful sandwiches when they visit our restaurants.”

The five-week nationally advertised promotion will be supported with general market television spots created by Lowe Lintas & Partners, as well as Hispanic and African-American target creative from Bromley Communications and UniWorld Group.

Burger King Corporation and the National Pork Producers Council are jointly promoting the Chicken Club Sandwiches that include bacon, one of consumers' favorite sandwich toppings. The sandwiches will be promoted on radio stations for three weeks beginning July 17, 2000, in major markets across the U.S.

“We're pleased to be responding to consumer feedback by offering new additions to our indulgent menu,” commented Correia. “Consumers are telling us they love bacon on their sandwiches, and last year the original Chicken Club really took off. Now customers who love the great flame-broiled taste of the BK BROILER(r) can enjoy the tasty club version as well.”

The Chicken Club Sandwiches will be featured in restaurants along with the Pokemon 2000 promotion available with the purchase of Burger King Big Kids Meals and Kids Meals for a six-week period also beginning July 17, 2000, at participating restaurants nationwide.
