000734 Wendy’s Hunts for Song About HamburgersJuly 10, 2000Dublin, OH-Attention basement bands, garage groups and corner crooners: Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers Restaurants is on the hunt for fresh, hot hamburger songs. Amateur musicians across North America are invited to compose a musical tribute that expresses their passion for the classic hamburger in Wendy's Search for Sizzlin' Sounds Contest, supported by partners RollingStone.com and TNN/CMT. Musicians from all music genres have a chance to hit the big time by writing and performing an original song about -- you guessed it -- their hamburger hankerings. So whether your band bangs out heavy metal tunes or you prefer to belt out a love ballad, Wendy's wants to hear your music -- as long as it's original and “sings the praises” of hamburgers. “Since the 1950s, music and hamburgers have held a special place at the heart of American pop culture, but there aren't too many hamburger songs out there,” said Chris Henger, general manager of RollingStone.com. “Maybe we'll create a new 'hamburger classic' with this contest.” Two contest finalists will make an appearance on CBS' Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and the Grand Prize winner will have a personal recording session with Wynn Jackson, founder and president of Country Club Enterprises and former vice president of promotion for RCA and Polygram Records. “I've loved hamburgers since I was a little boy,” said Dave Thomas, Wendy's founder. “Any time I was having a bad day, I'd eat a hot 'n juicy hamburger with cool, fresh toppings and I'd always feel better. I know there are plenty of people out there who love hamburgers as much as I do. I can't wait to hear how they put that passion to music.” How to Enter: Hamburger lovers can submit their creations (music and lyrics required) in two ways: 1. Record their song on audio cassette tape and mail it, along with a typed copy of the lyrics, to: RollingStone.com, 640 N.
