991116 Two Monfort Beef Plants Stagger Operations For Y2KNovember 3, 1999Chicago - Computer upgrades at two beef plants owned by ConAgra Inc.'s Monfort unit will result in staggered slaughter and meat cutting operations for the week. The upgrades are scheduled for Saturday and Monday and are designed to make the computer systems Y2K compliant, said Shaunna Will, human resources assistant. Monfort's plant in Grand Island, Nebraska, will operate two shifts on Saturday but will be closed on Monday, Will said. The Greeley, Colorado, plant will not slaughter on Saturday but will slaughter all of next week. However, there will be no beef fabrication at the plant on Monday and Tuesday, she said.
