990849 Beef Recalled in FloridaAugust 19, 1999Sarasota, FL - The state of Florida has issued a recall for 800 pounds of beef sold at the Sav-a-Lot store on Lime Avenue after agriculture officials found meat contaminated with the e-coli bacteria. Any ground beef purchased at the store Monday or Tuesday of last week with a sell date of August 12th or 13th should be returned for a full refund. Florida agriculture officials say the store is not the source of the contamination and has been cleared to sell a different batch of healthy meat. No illnesses have been linked to the recalled beef.
