There is increasing evidence that the fears of the 1980s that caused people to curtail the consumption of red meat were wrong-headed. According to an article in the March issue of Penthouse there is good reason for people to start eating red meat again, and not surprisingly one of them is that it might help men to have better sex.
The beef fat phobia turns out to have been exaggerated, and in fact one of the fatty substances of beef called stearic acid is now believed to lower cholesterol levels. But Penthouse writer Jerry Brainum concentrates on the impact of beef consumption on a man's sex life. It is a great source of zinc, which is known to help the body make testosterone. It also contains high concentrations of L-arginine, an amino acid that helps men achieve erections by producing nitric oxide. And that, in case the point is missed, one of the ways the drug Viagra works.
