Worthington, MN - Southwestern Minnesota residents are stocking up on pork. For the past two days, a Worthington grocery store has protested the low prices paid to pork farmers by selling pork for 30-cents a pound. That's about a dollar cheaper than normal price. Producers have been getting as little as eight to ten cents a pound for the other white meat. Worthington County Market manager Scott Anderson says he was surprised at how many people were willing to brave the cold temperatures to buy drastically reduced pork.
