Washington - A proposal for some $200 million in U.S. credits to jump-start poultry exports to Russia was withdrawn from farm-aid negotiations in Congress but one lawmaker said the idea might re-emerge later.
"I don't think it's dead," said Representative Marcy Kaptur, Ohio Democrat and a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. "It's been removed from this portion of the (omnibus spending) bill."
Kaptur said Southern senators wanted up to $475 million in export credits aimed at Russia. The figure was scaled back and then taken off the table.
