Washington - The U.S. Agriculture Department said it bought 4,316,400 pounds of frozen ground beef worth $4.118 million for use in the National School Lunch and other domestic food aid programs.
The department said it also purchased 520,000 pounds of frozen, boneless, beef chuck roasts worth approximately $1.047 million.
The department said the buy completed its beef roast purchase program. A total of 11.38 million pounds worth approximately $22.482 million was bought since the program was announced in March, the USDA said.
The USDA also said it bought 1,346,400 pounds of frozen coarse ground pork worth approximately $769,000, also for use in domestic food aid programs.
