Claremont, NC - Fresh Foods, Inc., the North Carolina-based food service company that operated under the name WSMP, Inc. until May 8, reported that it has changed its fiscal year.
Traditionally, the company's fiscal year has ended on the last Friday of February. Under a change approved recently by the Fresh Foods board of directors, the company's fiscal year will now end the first Saturday of each March. The first three fiscal quarters of each year will end the first Saturday in June, September, and December, respectively.
Fresh Foods, Inc. is the parent company of several wholly owned subsidiary companies, including: Pierre Foods, LLC, which comprise Pierre Foods plants in Cincinnati, Ohio and Claremont, North Carolina; Claremont Restaurant Group, LLC, which is responsible for all restaurant activities; and Mom 'n' Pop's Country Ham, LLC, which is one of the nation's largest country ham producers.
As a result of the change, the second quarter of Fresh Foods' current fiscal year ended Saturday, September 5. Based on this new accounting calendar, Fresh Foods anticipates releasing its second quarter results the week of October 12. In addition, Fresh Foods' third quarter will end Saturday, December 5 and its current fiscal year will end Saturday, March 6, 1999.
