Topeka, KS - Three Kansas meat processing plants have been shut down for code violations. Two of them are back up and running after the closure. Topeka's Valley Vista Locker plant is still working to correct its violations, but is expected to re-open soon. Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Carole Jordan says plant closings are not unusual in the inspection business. However, the plants are not usually shut down unless the department is concerned about meat contamination.
