Salt Lake City, UT - Agri-Foods International, Inc. announced the introduction of a new Flashgril'd pork fillet. The Flashgril'd pork steak provides a consistently tender and juicy fillet that cooks in minutes from frozen. Company president Jerry Smekel states, "This product was developed in response to the numerous requests from restaurant owners looking for a way to serve a consistently portion controlled pork steak. It can be used on a sandwich or as an entree. There is nothing like it on the market today. It represents a significant addition to our Flashgril'd steak product line."
Flashgril'd pork, like the existing Flashgril'd beef steak, are made with a new American patented method of trimming and searing meat. The patents allow removal of all visible surface fat, the veins, gristle and connective tissues -- leaving only the best meat -- without mincing, chopping, grinding, shredding, or flaking. Each steak is portioned into exact weights, and sear/sealed (seared on the outside and raw on the inside). Flashgril'd Steaks cook in just minutes by placing the frozen steak directly onto a grill, hamburger griddle, or frying pan, for 3 1/2 minutes on each side (2 minutes total if done in a double-sided contact grill). Flashgril'd Steaks have been specially designed to cook from frozen, guaranteeing a perfect tender and juicy steak every time!
Customers never have to worry about biting into a tough steak, fatty parts, gristle or connective tissue. A normal strip steak will shrink 30-35%. Flashgril'd Steaks shrink only 10%. Regular steak this size normally has 30-35 grams of fat - - Flashgril'd Steaks have less than 7 grams of fat (about the same as a chicken breast). Regular steak has 3-4 months shelf life in the freezer -- Flashgril'd Steaks shelf life is +one year. Foodservice operators have no blood loss or red meat that can possibly spoil, and portion size and cost is exact. According to the company, Flashgril'd Steaks taste better due to unique searing method that can not be duplicated in any restaurant.
AFI expects to have the products available for worldwide distribution by August 1998. The Flashgril'd pork fillets are packaged in 10 lb boxes of 40 three ounce steaks.
