Columbus, Ohio, April 30 - Rosie O'Donnell will honor White Castle Hamburgers on her show airing May 1st by treating her celebrity guests to the famous 2-inch square hamburgers that started the U.S.A.'s fast- food revolution.
The Rosie O'Donnell Show featuring the White Castle Hamburger celebration will officially kick-off the Seventh Annual National Hamburger Month (May 1- 31). National Hamburger Month is sponsored by White Castle to commemorate the popularity of the hamburger as America's favorite food.
“ER” star George Clooney will be one of Rosie's guests on the show. Clooney is a fan of the unique, tasty burgers -- steam grilled on a bed of onions -- affectionately known by millions as “Slyders(R).”
White Castle became the first fast-food hamburger chain in America in 1921. Since then, White Castle Hamburgers have become so popular that The Crave has spread to 12 states in the Midwest and Northeast -- including Kentucky and Tennessee. The company has served more than 12,703,272,000 hamburgers to date -- prompting the company's boast, “It's What You Crave.”
In addition to the hamburgers being dished up for the celebrities on the May 1 program, Rosie's studio audience will receive certificates good for six free White Castle Hamburgers.
Kim Bartley, White Castle's director of marketing, said, “We were thrilled to get the call from the show's producers for the opportunity to work out the best way for everyone to enjoy and satisfy their craving for our hamburgers.”
White Castle System operates more than 310 restaurants and sells boxes of its frozen hamburgers in grocery stores throughout the United States.
